HAROLD LE JEUNE
Harold Le Jeune is an artist who works in watercolours, pen & ink & wash and oils. He studied at the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney and moved to Port Macquarie in 1987 where he gained the highest result at the completion of a 12 month Art Course with the Hastings District School of Art and began watercolour painting with well known local artist Bob Smith. A move to the Queensland Gold Coast in 1997 enabled Harold to gain further experience, including a week long painting workshop with world renowned artist Robert Wade. He exhibited in the Bruce Watling Gallery at Southport, and was awarded prizes in exhibitions at Tweed Heads in 1998/1999. In 2000 Harold returned
to Port Macquarie, joined the Hastings Valley Fine Art Association and
became a regular exhibitor at the Banksia Grove Gallery at Lake Cathie.
At the same time, he continued evening art classes with Bob Smith and
enjoyed life drawing classes with the Port Macquarie Art Society. Harold uses only Artist Quality materials and his works are professionally framed to ensure long life. They reflect favourite places of travel, particularly Italy, Greece and the UK, and Australian rural and coastal landscapes. He is also exploring the new medium of colourful and thought provoking contemporary/abstract pieces on canvas. Harold exhibits regularly at galleries in the Port Macquarie/ Hastings area, at the Pinnata Gallery in Dorrigo and at his home studio & gallery in Port Macquarie, where he welcomes viewing of his work by appointment.
